What explanatory approaches and treatment models are there for Long COVID and ME/CFS, and how can they be put into context? The FHNW School of Social Work is launching a new online forum that aims to address current developments and controversies and provide a professional perspective.
The forum is planned as a complement to the four-part FHNW specialist seminar and is intended to take place twice a year. It will focus on current knowledge and clinical perspectives.
The first forum, on 26 November, will focus on nervous-system-oriented or neuroplastic approaches. FHNW notes that these approaches are gaining importance, but are also understood and interpreted in different ways. This can make it difficult for people affected and professionals to find their way around this field.
“A new format for current questions”
Dr Katrin Bopp from University Hospital Basel will present a multimodal, interprofessional treatment concept. She will explain key elements of the underlying explanatory model and share her clinical experience. The concept’s possibilities, limitations and practical applicability will then be discussed with Dr Cornelia Rüegger. Cédric Habermacher, President of CFS Hilfe Schweiz, will also take part in the subsequent discussion.
The forum is aimed at professionals in social work and related fields, including healthcare, education, disability insurance and case management. People affected and their relatives are explicitly welcome.
The online forum will take place on 26 November 2026, from 16:30 to 18:00. Participation costs CHF 50. A reduced rate of CHF 30 is available to people affected and, where needed, to others. The registration deadline is 23 November 2026.
