In addition to physical and cognitive symptoms, Long COVID and ME/CFS can have far-reaching consequences for daily life, education, employment and social participation. Professionals from different fields therefore face the challenge of offering appropriate advice while avoiding potentially harmful interventions.
The FHNW School of Social Work is offering the course “Understanding Long COVID and ME/CFS and providing appropriate interdisciplinary support” from 22 October to 12 November 2026. In four two-hour online modules, specialists from medicine, physiotherapy, psychotherapy, social work, law, nursing, education and child protection will provide practical knowledge.
The first module covers medical fundamentals and pacing (energy management) and is a prerequisite for the remaining modules. The subsequent sessions address psychological and psychosocial perspectives, social insurance issues with a focus on disability insurance, and support for children and young people in everyday life, at school and in child protection contexts.
The series is intended particularly for professionals working in social work, education, healthcare, psychotherapy, disability insurance, child and adult protection authorities and case management. People with Long COVID or ME/CFS and their relatives are also welcome.
The modules will take place online on 22 and 29 October and on 5 and 12 November, from 3.30 to 5.30 pm. Participation is CHF 90 per module. The first module is compulsory. Registration closes on 22 September 2026.
