Further training courses and lectures on long COVID in September

The current understanding of long COVID for professionals and laypeople: additional training courses and lectures will take place in September 2022.

Because the findings are constantly evolving, regular training courses on long COVID are important for professionals and laypeople alike. Five relevant events for this September are presented below.

September 13: exchange on the consultation hour

The Zurich City Hospital Waid will provide information about its consultation hour for Long COVID on Tuesday, September 13 from 6:30-8 pm. The event will take place simultaneously physically and online and is open for adolescents, adults and families as well as professionals. Members from the consultation's interdisciplinary board (internal medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, nursing) will provide information, and there will be time for sharing.

September 17: lecture in Derendingen

Neurologist Maja Strasser is giving a lecture entitled “Long COVID – society’s blind spot. Management and treatment of long COVID” at Physio Koch in Derendingen (German)on 17 September from 10:15–11 am.  The lecture is free of charge and open to the public. It is intended for laypeople as well as for interested professionals (family doctors, therapists).

In Solothurn, Maja Strasser has set up what she says is the only long COVID network (German) in Switzerland, which is intended to complement the interdisciplinary long COVID consultations. After referral from the family doctor, Maja Strasser performs further evaluations and refers patients to the necessary specialists in her network. “The hand-picked therapists are the crème de la crème of the network,” explains Maja Strasser. They are all very experienced in topics such as Pacing, which are important when dealing with long COVID.” Medical history and recommendations comply with the recommendations of the Swiss Insurance Medicine (SIM) and various medical guidelines.

September 21: first-rate live webinar

On 21 September, the Charité Berlin and the Technical University of Munich are hosting an online training session on the topic “Post-viral syndrome: ME/CFS and long COVID”. It starts at 6 pm. Participation is free of charge. The training session is intended for medical professionals. Lectures will be given by well-known figures in the field such as Prof. Carmen Scheibenbogen and the neurologist Michael Stingl. There will be time for questions at the end.

From September 22: PharmaKey.ch online symposium

In the symposium from PharmaKey.ch (German), neuroimmunologist Lara Diem (from the Altea's Expert Board), physiotherapist Noah Köppel and doctor Lisa Künzi from the Corona Center of the University of Zurich report on the latest findings on long/post-COVID. The event will be streamed online and recorded, is aimed at interested parties and especially health professionals and costs CHF 215.

September 30: continuing education for ergotherapy and physiotherapy

Occupational therapist Kathrin Hofer and physiotherapist Gaby Burkhardt offer further training on the topic of “Long COVID/post COVID: toolbox for occupational therapy and physiotherapy treatment” (German) in Suhr.
