"Unlike PLCs, Ltds or cooperatives, an association is primarily devoted to non-material and non-economic activities," explains Altea lawyer Fabian Vollrath. "This corresponds to Altea: Our goal is not a financial gain for the association or for the members, but to represent the interests of the Altea project vis-à-vis third parties."
Open to new members
The Association’s President Michael Schlunegger from LUNGE ZÜRICH also confirms: “At Altea, the focus is on pooling interests at the personal level. We can pick up and integrate the different interests of the various stakeholders around Altea even better with one association.
"In the form of an association, the members have the last word and not the board of directors. That’s because the board of directors, as an executive organ, is subject to the supervision of the general assembly. In addition, the association has its own legal personality that is independent of its members. That means: Members come and go - but the association remains. The Altea association is open to all market participants from the health sector who support the purpose of the association. Entry and exit are possible at any time.
The Altea Long COVID Network association does not pursue any commercial purposes. It is politically neutral and religiously independent.
An advisory board ensures independence and quality
The Altea board wants to appoint an advisory board made up of those affected, health specialists and researchers. This advisory board critically accompanies the activities of the association and the Altea platform and ensures interdisciplinary exchange and quality.
The Altea association is financed mainly through contributions from main partners such as charitable foundations and sponsors, furthermore through subsidies, donations or gifts. Membership fees are not charged, and the association's assets are exclusively liable for the association's debts.
