The University of Applied Sciences of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) is researching the effectiveness of an occupational therapy programme for the management of fatigue in long COVID sufferers. A group taking part in an occupational therapy energy management training programme (EMS) is being compared with a control group that does not take part in a guided energy management training programme.

The EMS group is led by occupational therapists from the University Hospital Zurich, Inselspital Bern and REHAB in Basel, among others. Both groups will be compared at a total of four points in time: At the start of the study, after 7 weeks, after 15 weeks and after 24 weeks.

When analysing the results, the primary focus is on the ability to implement energy management strategies in everyday life and which strategies are used. Secondarily, the severity of fatigue, competence in everyday tasks and quality of life are compared.
