The "Aufatmen" program from Austria aims to support people suffering from Long COVID through a mixture of breathing exercises and music therapy. The program was initiated by ARTS for HEALTH AUSTRIA and offers participants the opportunity to interact in a safe, creative environment and try to improve their well-being through artistic methods.
The sessions focus on improving lung capacity, relaxation techniques and promoting general mental health through music and guided breathing exercises.
The effects of the course program on the lung capacity, symptoms, and general well-being of participants from the first series of courses were examined in a study. The participants completed a questionnaire before the start of the course and after the end of the course. In addition, some participants underwent a clinical examination of their lung capacity.
The results indicate a significant improvement in symptoms and general well-being, while differences in the measured lung values were not significant. The study has not yet been published in a medical journal, i.e., the observations have not yet been reviewed by independent researchers.
The course takes place online and runs for 6 weeks, the next start date is 22.04.2024. Interested parties can register here. The course fee is €338 for the entire period. The course language is German.
